Tiny Elements in Nature : The Essence of Beauty in Ordinariness

Abstract

The thesis “Tiny Elements in Nature : The Essence of Beauty in Ordinariness” stems from the artist’s own experience of the problem with human’s attitude towards commonly found small plants whose significance is generally overlooked and they are sometimes even classified as weeds which need getting rid of, mostly by unnatural means. The action affects the environment in an endless cycle. This problem leads to the inspiration to create the artwork under the notion to represent the image in a new light which is different from the stereotype. The aims are to portray the aesthetics from the combination of nature’s smallest particles and to show the relationship of how nature has combined soil, water, wind, and sunlight into the creation of these small plants. Every single unit is an important factor which collaborates to create such uniqueness. The real essence is that everything on earth is interconnected and is part of each other. Such realization should encourage people to realize the worth and existence of those often neglected tiny plants.

This thesis is a result from the artist’s data collection, experience, knowledge of interested theory and field study. The data is then analyzed, synthesized, and presented as realistic two-dimensional paintings. The creation employs appropriate methods based on perceived reality, the artist’s interpretation and inner emotion to reflect the aesthetics which will draw the audience to appreciate the beauty of the hidden meanings.

การสร้างสรรค์ผลงานศิลปนิพนธ์ “อณูแห่งธรรมชาติ สาระความงามในความธรรมดา” จากจุดเริ่มต้นของประสบการณ์ที่ได้พบปัญหาเกี่ยวกับทัศนคติของมนุษย์ที่มีต่อพืชพันธุ์ขนาดเล็กพบเห็นได้ทั่วไปบนพื้นดินอย่างต้นหญ้าหรือดอกหญ้า มักถูกมองข้ามไม่เห็นคุณค่าความสำคัญและในบางครั้งพืชพันธุ์เหล่านี้ถูกจัดอยู่ในหมวดของวัชพืชที่ต้องถูกกำจัดทิ้ง ซึ่งส่วนใหญ่เป็นวิธีการที่ผิดธรรมชาติ ผลของการกระทำนั้นได้ส่งผลกระทบต่อสิ่งแวดล้อมในระยะยาวเป็นวงจรไม่รู้จบ ปัญหาเหล่านี้นำไปสู่แรงบันดาลใจในการสร้างสรรค์ผลงาน ภายใต้แนวความคิดที่ต้องการนำเสนอภาพลักษณ์ของพืชพันธุ์ธรรมดาสามัญเหล่านี้ในแง่มุมใหม่ ที่แตกต่างไปจากภาพจำเดิม เพื่อนำเสนอสุนทรียะความงามที่เกิดขึ้นจากการรวมตัวของอณูหน่วยย่อยในธรรมชาติ และแสดงถึงการประกอบสร้างความสัมพันธ์ของวัตถุธาตุ ดิน, น้ำ, ลม, แสงแดด ที่ธรรมชาติเป็นผู้รังสรรค์จนเกิดเป็นต้นหญ้าดอกหญ้าเหล่านั้น ซึ่งทุกสิ่งล้วนเป็นส่วนสำคัญในการสร้างอัตลักษณ์ที่พิเศษของพืชพันธุ์ขนาดเล็กเหล่านี้ นำไปสู่สาระความหมายที่ว่า สรรพสิ่งทุกอย่างบนโลกมีความเกี่ยวเนื่องเชื่อมโยงกัน ต่างเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของกันและกัน เพื่อกระตุ้นเตือนให้ผู้คนตระหนักถึงคุณค่าและการมีอยู่ของพืชพันธุ์ขนาดเล็กเหล่านี้

ผลงานศิลปนิพนธ์ชุดนี้ เป็นผลลัพธ์จากการรวบรวมข้อมูล ประสบการณ์ ความรู้ทางทฤษฎี สิ่งที่สนใจ รวมไปถึงการเก็บข้อมูลจากพื้นที่จริง ผ่านกระบวนการคิดวิเคราะห์ สังเคราะห์ นำเสนอผลงานผ่านจิตรกรรมสองมิติในรูปแบบเหมือนจริงด้วยเทคนิคกระบวนการที่เหมาะสม โดยอ้างอิงความจริงที่ปรากฏภายนอก การตีความสิ่งที่พบเห็นผ่านทัศนะข้อมูลความรู้ ผนวกกับอารมณ์ความรู้สึกภายในของข้าพเจ้า เพื่อสะท้อนความงามทางสุนทรียะอันเป็นสิ่งที่ดึงผู้ชมเข้าสู่เนื้อหาความงามทางความคิดที่ซ่อนอยู่ภายใน
