Father's Life: Daughter's Protection

Abstract

These art creation and creative research were submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Visual Arts) at Faculty of Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Arts, Silpakorn University, entitled “Father’s Life: Daughter’s Protection”. The purpose of this research is to express father’s delightful love and care towards his beloved daughter. Having a caring family makes one feel protected. This idea was communicated through the reversion of roles between father and daughter - from a protective father to a father being protected by his daughter. Via the choice of body proportion adjustment, the sculptor formed the child’s size bigger than the father’s. The poses of the child are varied in the acts of protecting her father from harm. The artworks were created by the techniques of white marble sculpting, brass casting and patination, and terracotta to enhance the feelings related to these sculptures.

The result of the study shows that this set of sculptures can creatively convey the new concept of daughter’s love and care towards her father by using comparative body proportions which may provoke the viewers to realize their own family’s love and bonds.

การสร้างสรรค์และวิจัยผลงานประติมากรรมครั้งนี้เป็นส่วนสำคัญหนึ่งในการศึกษาตามหลักสูตรปรัชญาดุษฎีบัณฑิต สาขาทัศนศิลป์ ของคณะจิตรกรรม ประติมากรรมและภาพพิมพ์ มหาวิทยาลัยศิลปากร ในหัวข้อเรื่อง ชีวิตพ่อ การปกป้องจากลูก ที่มีวัตถุประสงค์แสดงถึงเนื้อหาของความรักความอบอุ่นที่มีให้กับลูกสาว เป็นสิ่งที่ทำให้จิตใจรู้สึกอิ่มเอมมาก การมีครอบครัวที่อบอุ่นทำให้เกิดความรู้สึกว่าตนเองได้รับการปกป้องดูแลจากคนในครอบครัว จนเกิดเป็นความคิดในการสร้างสรรค์เป็นผลงานประติมากรรมที่สื่อสารด้วยการกลับค่า จากปกติที่พ่อเป็นผู้ดูแลปกป้องลูก เป็นพ่อได้รับการดูแลปกป้องจากลูก และใช้วิธีการประกอบสร้างรูปทรงด้วยการสลับตำแหน่งและสลับขนาดระหว่างรูปทรงพ่อกับรูปทรงลูกสาว โดยการทำให้รูปทรงลูกมีขนาดใหญ่กว่ารูปทรงพ่อ ในขณะที่รูปทรงลูกกำลังแสดงอาการพยายามดูแลปกป้องพ่อให้พ้นจากภัยอันตรายต่างๆ ผลงานสร้างขึ้นด้วยวิธีการแกะสลักหินอ่อนสีขาว การหล่อโลหะทองเหลืองรมสี และการปั้นดินเผา เพื่อเป็นการเสริมสร้างให้เกิดความรู้สึกที่สัมพันธ์กับรูปทรงที่ได้สร้างขึ้น

จากผลการสร้างสรรค์งานประติมากรรมชุดนี้พบว่า ผลงานสามารถสื่อสารเรื่องราวของความรักความอบอุ่น การทนุถนอมดูแลพ่อโดยลูกสาว ซึ่งเป็นแง่มุมทางความคิดใหม่ด้วยรูปแบบของการใช้สัดส่วนเปรียบเทียบที่ได้สร้างสรรค์ขึ้นเพื่อการสร้างแรงบันดาลใจให้กับบุคคลทั่วไปได้ตระหนักในความรัก ความผูกพันของทุกคนในครอบครัว
