The Sculptures Development of Nonthivathn Chandhanaphalin

Abstract

The research thesis, “The Sculptures Development of Nonthivathn Chandhanaphalin”, aims to study and analyze concepts, forms, contents, techniques, and creating methods of sculptural works by Nonthivathn Chandhanaphalin, which were made between 1968 – 2007. Theoretically applying art history and art theories, in working on this thesis, the researcher began with studying contents from documents, books, catalogs, and articles related to this artist, along with contents from interviews when the artist during his life and people directly involved with him. The researcher then combined those contents with a study of the artist’s biography and his academic background, along with an analysis of his sculptural works including the real works, photographs of them, and their aspects published through printed media, leading to an understanding in the development in the making of the artist’s sculptural works in each period of his life.

According to the research, it can be concluded that the development in the making of art by Nonthivathn can be categorized into 3 ways which are: realistic, abstract, and semi - abstract. The sculptural forms that Nonthivathn had been searching for the entire period of making art reflect the reality of his life in each period through the inside structural lines which are mildly and beautifully curved and the outside structural lines which flow freely, wherein they are combined with the round volumes of the overall shapes. These unique and beautiful sculptural shapes can truly bring the minds of the audiences into the aesthetic of Nonthivathn’s sculptural works.

การวิจัยในหัวข้อ “พัฒนาการในการสร้างสรรค์ประติมากรรมของ นนทิวรรธน์ จันทนะผะลิน” มีจุดประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาและวิเคราะห์ แนวคิด รูปแบบ เนื้อหา เทคนิค และวิธีการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานประติมากรรมของนนทิวรรธน์ จันทนะผะลิน ซึ่งสร้างสรรค์ขึ้นระหว่างปี พ.ศ. 2511 – 2550 ตามหลักการทางประวัติศาสตร์ศิลปะและทฤษฏีศิลป์ โดยขั้นตอนแรกจะศึกษาข้อมูลจากเอกสาร หนังสือ สูจิบัตร และบทความที่เกี่ยวข้องกับศิลปินผู้นี้ รวมทั้งศึกษาข้อมูลจากการสัมภาษณ์ศิลปินขณะที่ยังมีชีวิตอยู่ รวมถึงบุคคลที่เกี่ยวข้องกับเขาโดยตรงอีกด้วย จากนั้นจึงนำข้อมูลดังกล่าวมาศึกษาประวัติชีวิตควบคู่ไปกับการศึกษาและวิเคราะห์ผลงานประติมากรรมทั้งจากผลงานจริง ภาพถ่าย และผลงานที่ถูกตีพิมพ์ลงในสื่อสิ่งพิมพ์ต่างๆ อันนำไปสู่ความเข้าใจพัฒนาการในการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานประติมากรรมในแต่ละช่วงชีวิตของศิลปิน

จากผลการวิจัยสามารถสรุปได้ว่า พัฒนาการในการสร้างสรรค์งานศิลปะของ นนทิวรรธน์ สามารถแบ่งออกเป็น 3 แนวทาง คือ รูปแบบเหมือนจริงตามธรรมชาติ (Realistic) รูปแบบนามธรรม (Abstract) และรูปแบบกึ่งนามธรรม (Semi Abstract) รูปแบบประติมากรรมที่นนทิวรรธน์แสวงหาตลอดระยะเวลาแห่งการสร้างสรรค์ศิลปะของเขา สะท้อนสัจธรรมชีวิตในแต่ละช่วงวัยของประติมากรผู้นี้ ผ่านเส้นโครงสร้างภายในที่โค้งเว้าอย่างอ่อนหวานงดงามและเส้นรอบนอกที่ลื่นไหลเป็นอิสระ ซึ่งประสานเข้ากับปริมาตรอันกลมกลึงของรูปประติมากรรม รูปทรงประติมากรรมที่งดงามเป็นเอกลักษณ์ในลักษณะนี้สามารถโน้มนำใจของผู้ชมเข้าสู่สุนทรียภาพในงานประติมากรรมของนนทิวรรธน์ จันทนะผะลิน ได้อย่างแท้จริง
