An Aesthetics of Transformation

Abstract

The creation of thesis under the name “Aesthetic of transformation” aim to apply wasted materials from industry by creating 3-dimensional mixed media art pieces from the original material to abstract form that gives its different meaning from the past. For this, an experiment of construct and recycle wasted materials and transform them into artwork combine with origami technique by use both mathematic and art as a method of creation.

The creator experiments by constructed artworks from recycle materials, people might see them as dirty, trashy, and worthless but the creator sees beauty from their industrial characteristic, therefore the revaluation is the main focus by studying the principle of recycle management, inspired by other artists and theory to create variations of form. Origami is a tool to add creativity on materials. The knowledge of mathematic gives possibilities to bridge each material in terms of structure, and delusion of dimension, reasonably, which shows delicacy, contradict with the repeatedly made by industrial materials that human is not capable to produce like machine but the value and liveliness from human being is above industry system.

From survey and study artifacts in the museum shows value in conservation. The installation and the presentation of the exhibition gives value in a different context and makes the objects shine with their own meaning, worth to be protect. Same as art that created for uplift the meaning of product from human labor which is a story telling with different meaning by install and present in the context of museum that contradict to the original materials. In the end the work portray the balance between industry and humanity because each work of art has been created with unity, shows value and theirs importance both together.

การสร้างสรรค์ผลงานวิทยานิพนธ์ชุด “สุนทรียภาพของการแปลงรูป” มีความมุ่งหมายเพื่อประยุกต์ใช้เศษวัสดุจากขยะอุตสาหกรรมด้วยการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานศิลปะประเภทสื่อผสม 3 มิติ จากวัตถุเดิมที่มีความหมายอย่างหนึ่งไปสู่รูปทรงนามธรรมที่ให้สาระทางวัตถุที่แตกต่างไปจากหน้าที่เดิมมีการทดลองศึกษาประกอบสร้างเศษวัสดุจากขยะ (recycle) ให้กลายเป็นงานศิลปะด้วยวิธีการพับกระดาษ (origami) โดยใช้ความรู้ด้านศิลปะกับคณิตศาสตร์เป็นแนวทางในกระบวนการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานจากเศษชิ้นส่วนวัตถุที่หมดอายุการใช้งาน

ผู้สร้างสรรค์ได้นำชิ้นส่วนจากขยะรีไซเคิลมาทดลองประกอบสร้างเป็นผลงานศิลปะ คนทั่วไปอาจมองว่าเป็นสิ่งสกปรก ไร้ค่า ผู้สร้างสรรค์กลับเห็นความงามจากลักษณะพิเศษของวัตถุที่บ่งบอกถึงความเป็นอุตสาหกรรม จึงนำขยะกลับมาสร้างคุณค่าด้วยการศึกษาหลักการจัดการขยะรีไซเคิล หาแรงบันดาลใจจากศิลปินที่มีอิทธิพลในการสร้างสรรค์และทฤษฎีในการสร้างรูปทรงต่างๆ โดยใช้วิธีการพับกระดาษเป็นเครื่องมือในการต่อเติมรูปทรงของเศษวัสดุ โดยใช้ความรู้ด้านคณิตศาสตร์เพื่อหาความเป็นไปได้ของการเชื่อมวัสดุต่างชนิดกันอย่างสมเหตุสมผลด้านโครงสร้าง การลวงของมิติทางกายภาพ เป็นการทำซ้ำด้วยแรงมือที่แฝงไว้ซึ่งความเอาใจใส่และความละเอียดอ่อน มีความย้อนแย้งกับวัตถุทางอุตสาหกรรมที่ถูกผลิตซ้ำด้วยเครื่องมือ แม้ว่าจำนวนผลผลิตของมนุษย์จะไม่ได้ปริมาณมากเท่าระบบอุตสาหกรรม แต่คุณค่าและความมีชีวิตที่เกิดจากความเป็นมนุษย์ย่อมมีตัวตนเหนือกว่าสิ่งที่มาจากระบบอุตสาหกรรม

จากการสำรวจและศึกษาดูงานโบราณวัตถุในพิพิธภัณฑ์ทำให้ได้เห็นคุณค่าในเชิงอนุรักษ์ ลักษณะการจัดวาง รวมไปถึงวิธีการนำเสนอที่ทำให้วัตถุเดิมเกิดคุณค่าได้ด้วยบริบทที่เปลี่ยนไป ทำให้วัตถุนั้นแสดงความหมายในตัวเองอย่างสูงสุด ดูเป็นสิ่งที่ควรค่าแก่การรักษา เช่นเดียวกับผลงานที่สร้างสรรค์ขึ้นเพื่อยกระดับความหมายของผลผลิตจากแรงงานมนุษย์ เป็นการบันทึก บอกเล่าประสบการณ์มีซึ่งความหมายต่างจากวัตถุเดิม นำมาสร้างสรรค์และนำเสนอผลงานในบริบทของพิพิธภัณฑ์ที่มีความย้อนแย้งกับที่มาของวัตถุเดิม ท้ายที่สุดแล้วผลงานสร้างสรรค์ได้แสดงให้เห็นถึงความสมดุลระหว่างระบบอุตสาหกรรมกับความเป็นมนุษย์ เพราะผลงานแต่ละชิ้นถูกสร้างสรรค์ให้มีความเป็นอันหนึ่งอันเดียวกัน แสดงให้เห็นคุณค่าและความสำคัญของทั้งสองสิ่งควบคู่ไปด้วยกัน
