The Storage of Object's Memories

Abstract

The creation of this thesis under the name of “The Storage of Object’s Memories” is a result of learning, remembering, reminiscence, and life experiences analytics of the creator that interested in family’s left over of appliances. The aims of this thesis are 1. To study form, type, and the old appliances’ function in the house which related to lives of members in the family over the past 50 years. 2. To understand the style of Thai family structure from the past until today that affects the change of their coexistence. 3. To create still life painting by using the image of home appliances from the rural scenery that have been urbanized and explain the analytics of information for creating symbols in the production process as messages to the audience.

The process of studying, the creator avails theory and research that involve with the structure of family and tendency of change in Thai society, moreover, samples of artwork from chosen artists are analyzed in terms of technique, concept, and content, not only this but also field research as a way to experience such as lifestyle of people around urban area in Bangkok, community resource conservation in the rural area, museums, the creator’s living area, and then categorize type of objects that fascinated and connect them with the idea of family’s relationship, therefore the personality growth, experiences, memories which differences of generation in one family can appear due to today social changing.

The result of the study begets painting that shows images of many objects surrounded by an atmosphere of forgotten room. From this, it become a source to analyze and interpret which gives the understanding of the ideas underneath family structure that have been changed over time from the pressure of economic limitation of social system, norm, personal decision and the difference of how older generation and younger ones don’t share the way they valuate things in live anymore. The result of this journey reflects on this thesis under the name “The Storage of Object’s Memories” which presents the physically growth of big city and in contrary the rural areas have been left out as a place without life and fill with loneliness.

การสร้างสรรค์ผลงานวิทยานิพนธ์ชุด “พื้นที่เก็บวัตถุทรงจำ” เกิดจากการเรียนรู้ การจดจำ การระลึกถึง และการวิเคราะห์จากประสบการณ์ของผู้สร้างสรรค์ ซึ่งสนใจวัตถุสิ่งของเครื่องใช้ที่หลงเหลือมากมายหลากหลายประเภทของเหล่าบรรดาเครือญาติภายในพื้นที่อยู่อาศัย โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1. ศึกษาลักษณะ ประเภท และหน้าที่การใช้งาน สิ่งของเครื่องใช้ที่เก่าเก็บภายในที่อยู่อาศัย ที่มีความสัมพันธ์ต่อบทบาทการดำรงชีวิตของผู้คนในครอบครัว ตลอดช่วงระยะเวลากว่า 50 ปีที่ผ่านมา 2. ศึกษาความเป็นมาของโครงสร้างรูปแบบครอบครัวไทยจากอดีตจนถึงปัจจุบัน ที่ส่งผลให้ลักษณะความเป็นอยู่ร่วมกันของครอบครัวไทยเปลี่ยนแปลงไป 3. สร้างสรรค์ผลงานจิตรกรรมหุ่นนิ่ง โดยใช้รูปทรงสิ่งของเครื่องใช้ในครอบครัว ในสภาพแวดล้อมของที่อยู่อาศัยที่มีลักษณะความเป็นต่างจังหวัด แต่ถูกกำลังถูกแทนที่ด้วยความเป็นสังคมเมือง และการอธิบายเนื้อหาข้อมูลเชิงวิเคราะห์ เพื่อเป็นสื่อแทนแสดงความหมายในกระบวนการสร้างสรรค์

ในขั้นตอนกระบวนการศึกษาของผู้สร้างสรรค์ ได้ศึกษาทฤษฎี และงานเขียนวิจัย ที่เกี่ยวข้องกับรูปแบบ โครงสร้างของครอบครัว และแนวโน้มการเปลี่ยนแปลงลักษณะของสังคมไทย นอกจากนั้นได้ทำการวิเคราะห์จากผลงานศิลปินกรณีศึกษา ในรูปแบบเทคนิค รูปแบบแนวคิดและเนื้อหา อีกทั้งยังมีการลงพื้นที่สำรวจศึกษาในสภาพแวดล้อม ที่แสดงให้เห็นถึงรูปแบบการดำเนินชีวิตของผู้คนในปัจจุบัน เช่น สภาพแวดล้อมในกรุงเทพมหานคร ที่เป็นลักษณะสังคมเมือง แหล่งชุนชนเชิงอนุรักษ์ในสังคมต่างจังหวัด พิพิธภัณฑ์ ภายในพื้นที่อยู่อาศัยของผู้สร้างสรรค์ และทำการคัดเลือกจำแนกแยกประเภทวัตถุสิ่งของ ที่นำมาเชื่อมโยงเป็นสัญลักษณ์แทนค่าความเป็นอยู่ร่วมกันในรูปแบบดั้งเดิมของครอบครัวใหญ่ ความเป็นบุคคล ที่มีรูปแบบการเติบโต ระดับประสบการณ์ เรื่องราวความทรงจำ ที่ต่างช่วงวัยและต่างช่วงเวลากัน ท่ามกลางสภาพแวดล้อมในสังคมที่เปลี่ยนแปลงไป แสดงสาระความเป็นครอบครัวผ่านรูปทรงของวัตถุสิ่งของที่สื่อสารในผลงาน

ผลจากการศึกษาวิเคราะห์ดังกล่าว ก่อให้เกิดผลงานจิตรกรรม ที่ปรากฏภาพของวัตถุสิ่งของที่หลากหลายชนิดท่ามกลางสภาพแวดล้อมที่เสมือนห้องเก็บของที่ถูกทิ้งร้าง ได้ถูกนำมาวิเคราะห์และตีความในเชิงเนื้อหา ทำให้เข้าใจเบื้องหลังความเป็นมา ที่แฝงอยู่ในระบบครอบครัวที่เปลี่ยนแปลงไปตามยุคสมัย ภายใต้ระบบสังคมที่มีข้อจำกัดทางเศรษฐกิจ ค่านิยม เหตุปัจจัยเฉพาะบุคคล และการมีทัศนคติที่แตกต่างกัน ในการเห็นคุณค่าของการอยู่ร่วมกันเป็นครอบครัวในพื้นที่เดียวกันแบบกลุ่มคนในอดีต ที่แตกต่างกันกับกลุ่มคนในปัจจุบัน ผลลัพธ์ของความแตกต่างที่เกิดขึ้น ระหว่าง ความเป็นอยู่ในสังคมเมืองที่เติบโตขึ้นด้วยความเจริญก้าวหน้าทางกายภาพ ตรงกันข้ามกับสภาพแวดล้อมของที่อยู่อาศัยในสังคมต่างจังหวัด ที่กลับถูกทอดทิ้งให้มีสภาพที่ไร้ชีวิตเงียบเหงามากยิ่งขึ้น สะท้อนความคิดในผลงานวิทยานิพนธ์ ชุด “พื้นที่เก็บวัตถุทรงจำ”
