The Heritage of Phetchaburi Artisans' Wisdom and Culture for Contemporary Creative Design Art as Inherited in the Present

Abstract

The research is a qualitative research with objectives on the study of the intellectual heritage and cultural way of Phetchaburi carpentry artisan through the creation inheritance in the present art and design context. The study emphasized on Semi-Ethnographic research by studying the relevant data, surveying the area using “In-depth interview” for research instrument. The results were found that the scope of social norms maintained the cultural way of Phetchaburi carpentry artisan from the past and the influence of Ayutthaya art have created connections to build faith by having the “temple” as the center of learning where they give an importance to “Thananusak” the importance of the sacredness of the building and the tradition of creating royal designs, “Kra Suan” the past context which is not just an original but a mellow beauty that is a tool for gathering the knowledge of the carpentry artisan with the taste of the craftsman. Auther a “Sajja Watsadu” the current context reflects birth, existence, and death according to the principles of the Three Characteristics of existence, but also reflect the importance of the spirit of the teacher who is an example in learning. Even though social changes and the economy are having an impact on the artisan’s family, the work has continued through an application, an imitation, and a maintenance. By using the method of “Localization,” it was possible to create “The process of palace - temple – house of Phetchaburi carpentry artisans as the identity of the carpenter artisan family. This was considered a synthesis of the preliminary findings for this research.

The creative work focused on Practice Based Research, which emphasized on study, experimentation, practice, creative real work and to organize creative activities as the work was divided into 4 parts: 1) organizing creative group discussion activities together with a group of woodwork experts, academics, and artists. It was found that both Thananusak, Kra Suan, and Sajja Watsadu should be valued in furtherance for creativity, and organizing cultural activities that emphasize participatory creativity which was considered an important way to drive the successors of the carpentry artisan in a new way, 2) creating contemporary art through the participation of artists and interested parties by applying and expanding on the work of past carpenters to create participation in the continuation of the carpentry artisan in a new context, 3) the contemporary design art exhibition at "Wat Yang Art space", to create awareness about the Phetchaburi carpentry artisan and its existence, and 4) the creativity through the creation of contemporary media by online channels has created awareness of the continuation of the carpenter family in the current context. The research result create process towards a form of continuation in the present context and presented a model for the sustainable development and extension of the carpentry artisan in the present and into the future.

งานวิจัยนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ (Qualitative Research) ในแบบผสมผสาน (Mix Research) ตามวัตถุประสงค์การวิจัยที่ว่าด้วยการศึกษามรดกภูมิปัญญาและวิถีวัฒนธรรมสกุลช่างไม้เมืองเพชร ผ่านการสร้างสรรค์ศิลปะการออกแบบร่วมสมัย สู่การสืบสานมรดกภูมิปัญญาและวิถีวัฒนธรรมสกุลช่างไม้เมืองเพชรในบริบทปัจจุบัน เน้นการวิจัยแบบ Semi - Ethnographic Research มีการลงพื้นที่สำรวจข้อมูล โดยใช้เครื่องมือวิจัย “แบบสัมภาษณ์แบบเจาะจง” ผลการวิเคราะห์พบว่า การหล่อหลอมจากบรรทัดฐานทางสังคม การดำรงไว้ซึ่งวิถีวัฒนธรรมสกุลช่างไม้เมืองเพชรตั้งแต่อดีต และอิทธิพลของศิลปะอยุธยา สร้างความเชื่อมโยงให้เกิดความศรัทธา โดยมี “วัด” เป็นศูนย์กลางการเรียนรู้ ซึ่งให้ความสำคัญกับ “ฐานานุศักดิ์” ความสำคัญในศักดิ์ของอาคาร และธรรมเนียมการสร้างแบบหลวง “กระสวน” บริบทอดีตซึ่งมิใช่เป็นเพียงแม่แบบแต่เป็นความงามที่กลมกล่อมซึ่งถือเครื่องมือในการรวบรวมความรู้ของสกุลช่างไม้ที่แฝงด้วยรสนิยมของครูช่างและ “สัจจะวัสดุ” (บริบทปัจจุบันที่สะท้อนให้เห็นถึงการเกิด การตั้งอยู่ และดับไปตามหลักแห่งไตรลักษณ์ แต่ยังความสำคัญของจิตวิญญาณของครูช่างซึ่งเป็นแบบอย่างในการเรียนรู้ ทั้งนี้แม้การเปลี่ยนแปลงทางสังคม และเศรษฐกิจจะมีผลกระทบต่อสกุลช่าง แต่ก็มีการสืบสานผ่านการประยุกต์ การเลียนแบบ การทะนุบำรุงรักษา เรื่อยมา โดยใช้วิธี “การปรับปรนให้เข้าเป็นของท้องถิ่น” สามารถสร้าง “กระบวนการ วัง - วัด – บ้าน สกุลช่างไม้เมืองเพชร” จนทำให้เกิดอัตลักษณ์ของสกุลช่างไม้ ซึ่งถือเป็นผลการสังเคราะห์อันเป็นข้อค้นพบในเบื้องต้นในงานวิจัยนี้

ผลงานการสร้างสรรค์เน้นการวิจัยแบบ Practice Based Research เน้นการศึกษา ทดลองปฏิบัติ การสร้างเป็นผลงานจริง และจัดกิจกรรมสร้างสรรค์ แบ่งเป็น 4 ส่วน ประกอบด้วย 1) การจัดกิจกรรมสนทนากลุ่มเชิงสร้างสรรค์ ร่วมกับกลุ่มผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านงานไม้ นักวิชาการ และศิลปินต่างๆ พบว่า ควรให้คุณค่าทั้งฐานานุศักดิ์ กระสวน และสัจจะวัสดุ ในการต่อยอดเพื่อการสร้างสรรค์ และการจัดกิจกรรมเชิงวัฒนธรรมที่เน้นการสร้างสรรค์แบบมีส่วนร่วม ถือเป็นแนวทางสำคัญในการขับเคลื่อนการสืบสานสกุลช่างไม้ในรูปแบบใหม่ 2) การสร้างสรรค์ศิลปะร่วมสมัยผ่านการมีส่วนร่วมของศิลปินและผู้สนใจทั้งภายในและนอกพื้นที่ โดยประยุกต์และต่อยอดผลงานสกุลช่างไม้ในอดีตมาสร้างสรรค์ ทำให้เกิดการมีส่วนร่วมในการสืบสานสกุลช่างไม้ในบริบทใหม่ 3) การจัดแสดงนิทรรศการศิลปะการออกแบบร่วมสมัย ณ “สวนศิลป์วัดยาง” ผลการประเมินพบว่าการสืบสานผ่านการสร้างสรรค์ด้วยการประยุกต์ใช้งานช่างไม้ในอดีตในรูปแบบร่วมสมัยทำให้เกิดการรับรู้เกี่ยวกับสกุลช่างไม้เมืองเพชรและการคงอยู่ที่เป็นปัจจุบัน และ4) การสร้างสร้างสรรค์ผ่านการจัดทำสื่อร่วมสมัยผ่านช่องทางออนไลน์ทำให้เกิดการรับรู้และสร้างความตระหนักถึงการสืบสานสกุลช่างไม้ในบริบทปัจจุบันได้ ผลจากการวิจัยสามารถสร้างการค้นพบใหม่เป็นแนวคิด “กระบวนการสร้างสรรค์สู่รูปแบบการสืบสานในบริบทปัจจุบัน” โดยสร้างปรากฏการณ์ใหม่ที่ส่งผลกระทบเชิงสังคมและวัฒนธรรมทั้งผู้คนและเยาวชนในพื้นที่ให้เกิดความตระหนัก การเรียนรู้ และสืบสานในบริบทปัจจุบันในรูปแบบใหม่ และเป็นแบบอย่างสู่การพัฒนาและต่อยอดสกุลช่างไม้ในวงกว้างทั้งในปัจจุบันสู่อนาคตอย่างยั่งยืน
