dc.description.abstract | Abstract The fundamental pillars of any heritage management strategy encompass several key aspects: the development of a unified set of procedures specific to the historic environment, the increase of opportunities for public involvement and social inclusion, and the support for sustainability and its implementation in effective planning systems. Over the course of the evolution of heritage conservation practices in Thailand, several challenges and issues have emerged that currently pose significant obstacles to effective heritage management implementation within the country. These challenges highlight the need for strategies that not only address technical aspects but also foster community engagement and support. This study explores and analyses the methods used in heritage management, identify their impacts, and define any harmful practices. Through a comprehensive analysis, the found information is categorized and aligned with resources related to heritage management in Thailand. The research is based on case studies in Bangkok: Mahakarn Fort and Nang Loeng communities, which emphasize the vital role of local communities in heritage management and the necessity of their involvement in the decision-making processes. These case studies highlight how cultural heritage is managed in Thailand and underscore the urgent need for greater community involvement, underlying the fact that the policies in place date back to the 1960s and have seen little adaptation to current needs. | en |
