| dc.description.abstract | Southern Fujian has a strong atmosphere of folk beliefs, and the folk belief space is a "spiritual home" in urban villages, a place with stories and culture. As a community identity, it is a meaningful place that embodies the spirit of place and collective memory. Although more folk belief spaces in urban villages have been preserved in urban construction, they have failed to play their proper role in social life, and sometimes have even been reduced to a kind of "negative space". The purpose of this study is to explore the renewal strategy of folk belief space in the unique community type of "urban village" in China, in order to stimulate the vitality of urban villages and enhance the cohesion of community residents through the renewal design of folk belief space as the activator of the memory of place. The outcome of this study is to establish a strategy model for the renewal design of folk belief spaces in urban villages and apply it to specific practical projects. This study is a combination of theoretical and practical research, adopting literature research, field research and survey research to summarize the relatively complete connotation and hierarchical relationship of folk belief space. Using experimental design, Li Ancestral Hall in Xiagang is selected as a typical case, and in conjunction with the hierarchical structure of folk belief space, the "3S" updating design concept is proposed: safeguard of tradition, stimulation of vitality, sustainability of development. Based on Phenomenology as the philosophical foundation, the design strategies are summarized: place experience, perception experience, and narrative experience. With the progress of urbanization, the modern community will be the main space for people to live peacefully, and it is important to think about how to move from tradition to modernity. In the context of the new era, how to create a humanistic environment that fosters a spiritual atmosphere and provides cultural space in the design of folk belief space assumes greater significance. Therefore, the reconstruction of folk belief space to create a new realm of modern community space, in order to realize the poetic habitat of human beings. | en |
