STRATEGIES FOR MANAGING PRIVATE PHYSIOTHERAPY CLINICS TO PROMOTE HEALTH TOURISM IN THE WESTERN REGION OF THAILAND

Abstract

This study aimed to (1) To study and analyze the current state of private physical therapy clinic management in promoting health tourism in the western region of Thailand (2)To develop strategic management approaches for private physical therapy clinics to support health tourism in the western region of Thailand; and (3)To evaluate the strategic management approaches for private physical therapy clinics in promoting health tourism in the same region. The research was conducted using a Research and Development (R&D) approach. Data were collected through field studies, document analysis, area potential analysis using SWOT and TOWS matrices, and in-depth interviews with 25 key informants who were stakeholders in the area. Additionally, a panel discussion with 20 experts was conducted. The data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and content analysis. Research instruments included questionnaires and in-depth interview guidelines. Data collection took place between May 2024 and May 2025. Data were analyzed through frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and qualitative content analysis.

The findings revealed that (1) The analysis of the current state of private physical therapy clinic management for promoting health tourism in the western region of Thailand revealed a total of 51 registered clinics under the Ministry of Public Health. The distribution by province is as follows: Nakhon Pathom: 16 clinics across 7 districts Ratchaburi: 11 clinics across 10 districts Phetchaburi: 5 clinics across 8 districts Prachuap Khiri Khan: 6 clinics across 8 districts and Kanchanaburi: 13 clinics across 13 districts. Field data collection indicated that most private physical therapy clinics are located in central (Mueang) districts. Some districts have no access to private physical therapy services, which limits service availability for local communities and individuals interested in health tourism. (2) Regarding the behavior and needs of health tourists, the study found that users of private physical therapy clinics who were also interested in visiting health tourism destinations in the western region of Thailand preferred the following activities: 1Relaxation activities (42.0%)Physical care and wellness (30.0%)Work-life balance (14.5%)Recreation and entertainment (8.8%)Beauty treatments (3.0%)Mental rehabilitation and therapy (1.2%)Spiritual development (0.5%) respectively. (3) Four strategic approaches were developed to manage private physical therapy clinics in alignment with the promotion of health tourism in the western region of Thailand (1)An integrated strategy combining physical therapy clinic services with health tourism (2) A strategy to build collaboration at the policy and administrative levels between government agencies and private sector businesses to support physical therapy services and promote health tourism (3)A strategy to promote and enhance the capacity of personnel in private physical therapy clinics within the region to support tourism development; and (4) A preventive strategy to mitigate potential service or management failures during the operation of physical therapy clinics in the context of health tourism. These strategies were validated by experts as being highly appropriate and feasible for practical implementation, with the potential to sustainably develop private physical therapy clinics in support of health tourism in Thailand’s western region.

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ วัตถุประสงค์ของการวิจัยไว้คือ 1) เพื่อศึกษาวิเคราะห์ สภาพปัจจุบัน การจัดการคลินิกกายภาพบำบัดเอกชนเพื่อส่งเสริม การท่องเที่ยวเชิงสุขภาพในเขตภาคตะวันตกประเทศไทย 2) เพื่อพัฒนากลยุทธ์การจัดการคลินิกกายภาพบำบัดเอกชนเพื่อส่งเสริมการท่องเที่ยวเชิงสุขภาพในเขตภาคตะวันตกประเทศไทย 3) เพื่อประเมินกลยุทธ์การจัดการคลินิกกายภาพบำบัดเอกชนเพื่อส่งเสริมการท่องเที่ยว เชิงสุขภาพในเขตภาคตะวันตกประเทศไทย การวิจัยและพัฒนา (Research and Development) เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลโดย การลงพื้นที่ศึกษา การวิเคราะห์เอกสาร การวิเคราะห์ศักยภาพของพื้นที่ (SWOT Analysis) และ TOWs matrix และสัมภาษณ์ผู้ให้ข้อมูลหลักที่เป็นผู้เกี่ยวข้องในพื้นที่ จำนวน 25 คน และสัมมนาอิงผู้เชี่ยวชาญ จำนวน 20 คน วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยการวิเคราะห์หาค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐานและการวิเคราะห์เนื้อหา เครื่องมือที่ใช้ประกอบด้วย แบบสอบถาม แนวทางการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลในช่วงเดือนพฤษภาคม 2567 – พฤษภาคม 2568 วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยการหาค่าความถี่ ค่าร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และการวิเคราะห์ เชิงเนื้อหา

ผลการศึกษาพบว่า (1) ผลการศึกษาวิเคราะห์ สภาพปัจจุบัน การจัดการคลินิกกายภาพบำบัดเอกชนเพื่อส่งเสริม การท่องเที่ยวเชิงสุขภาพในเขตภาคตะวันตกประเทศไทย พบว่า จำนวนคลินิกกายภาพบำบัดอกชนในภาคตะวันตะวันตกที่ลงทะเบียนเป็นสถานพยาบาลขึ้นกับกระทรวงสาธารณะสุขรวมทั้งสิ้น 51 คลินิก รายละเอียด ดังนี้ นครปฐม 7 อำเภอ จำนวนคลินิกกายภาพบำบัดเอกชน จำนวน 16 คลินิก ราชบุรี 10 อำเภอ จำนวนคลินิกกายภาพบำบัดเอกชน จำนวน 11 คลินิก เพชรบุรี 8 อำเภอ จำนวนคลินิกกายภาพบำบัดเอกชน จำนวน 5 คลินิก ประจวบคีรีขันธ์ 8 อำเภอ จำนวนคลินิกกายภาพบำบัดเอกชน จำนวน 6 คลินิก และ กาญจนบุรี 13 อำเภอ จำนวนคลินิกกายภาพบำบัดเอกชน จำนวน 13 คลินิก จากการลงพื้นพื้นในการเก็บข้อมูลจะพบว่า คลินิกกายภาพบำบัดเอกชนส่วนมากจะอยู่ในอำเภอเมืองและบางอำเภอยังไม่มีการให้บริการคลินิกกายภาพบำบัดเอกชนแก่ชุมชนหรือผู้รับบริการคลินิกกกายภาพบำบัดหรือสนใจการท่องเที่ยวเชิงสุขภาพ (2) พฤติกรรมและความต้องการของนักท่องเที่ยวเชิงสุขภาพ ผลการศึกษากิจกรรมที่ผู้ใช้บริการคลินิกกายภาพบำบัดเอกชนและสนใจเดินทางท่องเที่ยวในแหล่งท่องเที่ยวเชิงสุขภาพ พบว่า พฤติกรรมการท่องเที่ยวเชิงสุขภาพและกิจกรรมที่ผู้ใช้บริการสนใจเดินทางท่องเที่ยวในแหล่งท่องเที่ยวเชิงสุขภาพในเขตภาคตะวันตกประเทศไทย กิจกรรมที่ผู้รับบริการสนใจมากที่สุด คือ กิจกรรมเพื่อการผ่อนคลาย (ร้อยละ 42.0) รองลงมา การดูแลรักษาร่างกาย (ร้อยละ 30.0) การสร้างสมดุลระหว่างงานและการใช้ชีวิต (ร้อยละ 14.5) กิจกรรมนันทนาการและการบันเทิง (ร้อยละ 8.8) การรักษาความงาม(ร้อยละ 3.0) กิจกรรมฟื้นฟูและบำบัดจิตใจ (ร้อยละ 1.2) และ กิจกรรมเพื่อพัฒนาด้านจิตวิญญาณ (ร้อยละ 0.5) ตามลำดับ (3) มีกลยุทธ์การจัดการคลินิกกายภาพบำบัดเอกชนการท่องเที่ยวเชิงสุขภาพในภาคตะวันตกของประเทศไทยที่พัฒนาขึ้น 4 ด้านได้แก่ 1) กลยุทธ์บริการคลินิกกายภาพบำบัดเอกชนร่วมกับการท่องเที่ยวเชิงสุขภาพเชิงบูรณาการในเขตภาคตะวันตกของประเทศไทย 2) กลยุทธ์ การสร้างความร่วมมือระดับนโยบายและการบริหารจัดการระหว่างหน่วยงานภาครัฐและภาคธุรกิจเอกชนืเพื่อรองรับบริการคลินิกกายภาพบำบัดเอกชนและส่งเสริมการท่องเที่ยวเชิงสุขภาพ ในเขตภาคตะวันตกของประเทศไทย 3) กลยุทธ์ ส่งเสริมและสนับสนุนพัฒนาศักยภาพของบุคลากรในคลินิกกายภาพบำบัดเอกชนพื้นที่เพื่อส่งเสริมการท่องเที่ยวในภาคตะวันตกของประเทศไทย 4) กลยุทธ์ป้องกันการเกิดปัญหาหรือความล้มเหลวในการให้บริการหรือการบริหารจัดการระหว่างการให้บริการคลินิกกายภาพบำบัด เพื่อส่งเสริมการท่องเที่ยวเชิงสุขภาพในเขตภาคตะวันตกของประเทศไทย กลยุทธ์ที่จัดทำขึ้นได้รับการรับรองจากผู้เชี่ยวชาญว่ามีความเหมาะสมในระดับมากที่สุดและสามารถนำไปใช้ได้จริงในการพัฒนาคลินิกกายภาพบำบัดเพื่อส่งเสริมการท่องเที่ยวเชิงสุขภาพในเขตภาคตะวันตกของประเทศไทยอย่างยั่งยืน
