CHANGE OF COLLOQUIALIN THAI DICTIONARY, THE ROYAL INSTITUTE EDITION, B.E. 2493 AND B.E. 2554

Abstract

This independent study aims to analyze colloquial in Thai Dictionary, the Royal Institute edition B.E. 2493 and B.E. 2554 involving change of entries and meanings

The results show that number of entries in edition B.E. 2493 are 137 entries and in edition B.E. 2554 are 1,216 entries, which number of entries in B.E. 2554 are more than in B.E. 2493 at 1,079 entries. There are 5 changeable characteristics about number of entries: (1 to be colloquial in both editions; 102 entries, (2) to be colloquial in edition B.E. 2493 only; 29 entries, (3) to be colloquial in edition B.E. 2493, not be collected in B.E. 2554; 6 entries, (4) to be colloquial in edition B.E. 2554 only; 348 entries, and (5) to be new entries in edition B.E. 2554; 766 entries. There are 3 changeable clusters about its meanings: (1) restricted meaning, (2) extended meaning, and (3) shifted meaning, which extended meaning is the most, later is restricted meaning and shifted meaning, respectively.

การค้นคว้าอิสระครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการเปลี่ยนแปลงด้านจำนวนคำและความหมายของคำภาษาปากในพจนานุกรม ฉบับราชบัณฑิตยสถาน พ.ศ. ๒๔๙๓ และพจนานุกรม ฉบับราชบัณฑิตยสถาน พ.ศ. ๒๕๕๔

ผลการศึกษาการเปลี่ยนแปลงด้านคำพบว่า มีคำภาษาปากในพจนานุกรม ฉบับราชบัณฑิตยสถาน พ.ศ. ๒๔๙๓ จำนวน ๑๓๗ คำ ในพจนานุกรม ฉบับราชบัณฑิตยสถาน พ.ศ. ๒๕๕๔ จำนวน๑,๒๑๖ คำ ซึ่งในฉบับ พ.ศ. ๒๕๕๔ มีจำนวนคำมากกว่าฉบับ พ.ศ. ๒๔๙๓ จำนวน ๑,๐๗๙ คำ โดยแบ่งลักษณะการเปลี่ยนแปลงด้านจำนวนคำออกเป็น ๕ ลักษณะ ได้แก่ ๑) คำที่เป็นภาษาปากเหมือนกันทั้ง ๒ ฉบับ มีจำนวน ๑๐๒ คำ ๒) คำที่เป็นภาษาปากในฉบับ พ.ศ. ๒๔๙๓ แต่ไม่เป็นภาษาปากในฉบับพ.ศ. ๒๕๕๔ มีจำนวน ๒๙ คำ ๓) คำที่เป็นภาษาปากในฉบับ พ.ศ. ๒๔๙๓ แต่ไม่ปรากฏในฉบับ พ.ศ.๒๕๕๔ มีจำนวน ๖ คำ ๔) คำที่ไม่เป็นภาษาปากในฉบับ พ.ศ. ๒๔๙๓ แต่เป็นภาษาปากในฉบับ พ.ศ.๒๕๕๔ มีจำนวน ๓๔๘ คำ และ ๕) คำที่ไม่ปรากฏในฉบับ พ.ศ. ๒๔๙๓ แต่ปรากฏเป็นคำภาษาปากในฉบับ พ.ศ. ๒๕๕๔ มีจำนวน ๗๖๖ คำ ส่วนผลการศึกษาการเปลี่ยนแปลงด้านความหมายพบว่า มีการเปลี่ยนแปลงด้านความหมายแบบกว้างออกมากที่สุด รองลงมาคือ แบบแคบเข้า และแบบย้ายที่ตามลำดับ
