Black Sacrifice

Abstract

The creation of art thesis named “Black Sacrifice” aims to introduce a visual artwork with aspects of style and sign as applied in painting of a typical set of altar table accessories, by adopting technique of visual weight value between darker and lighter elements, in order to communicate the essence of worship culture, the format of which as influenced by artistic pattern of Chinese-design altar tableware. Arrangement of utensils for the purpose of sacred worshipping is meant to show respect to ancestors, expressing love, warmth, and caring, all of which are inspired by the author’s own father.

Based on survey and study on the course of belief in worshipping, cultural influence that is acceptable to Thai people, the Thai artwork style in painting of Chinese-design altar tableware, and loss of beloved forebears, the idea is about preservation of sense of relationship derived from difficulties in keeping a career to make a living, maintaining a common livelihood, contentment in ordinary things, obtaining articles by determination, undivided attention on one’s own laborious efforts to create even the smallest happiness. How much an article is worth is not assessed by its value, but by appreciating how its emotional worth and memory are passed over to reveal love, warmth, and care of the father, and leading to creation of Thai style artworks which show affection and respect to the author’s father. Thereby, every item created for this art thesis is made out of the author’s memory of his beloved father.

By using items found around one’s experiences which are the four requisite articles reflecting one’s livelihood, and applying concept of Romanticism to the auspiciousness in the shape and design, the outcome is symbolic expression in the style of Thai arts. Using of simple household utensils, not wonderful in its nature but having something extraordinary in itself, they convey the meaning and value in life that communicate the feeling of remembrance, love, relationship, and warmth of the father. It is about symbolic creation of shape. In this case, it is arrangement of flowers in lotus-shape, placing in a certain area in order to show worshipping. It is human nature to seek to create a spiritual anchor with a symbolic object which has some meaning to oneself. It reflects belief in worshipping in order to show gratitude as expressed by Thai people in general by means of “Black Sacrifice” arts.

การสร้างสรรค์ผลงานวิทยานิพนธ์ชุด “เครื่องบูชาสีดำ" มีจุดมุ่งหมายเพื่อสร้างสรรค์ผลงานทัศนศิลป์ด้วยรูปแบบสัญลักษณ์ตามแบบจิตรกรรมเครื่องตั้งโต๊ะหมู่บูชา ผ่านเทคนิคการให้ค่าน้ำหนักขาวดำ ที่สื่อสารถึงสาระอันสำคัญของวัฒนธรรมการบูชา ผ่านอิทธิพลทางรูปแบบที่ได้รับจากศิลปะลวดลายเครื่องตั้งกระบวนจีน การจัดวางสิ่งของเครื่องใช้ในลักษณะเครื่องตั้งสักการบูชา ใช้แสดงความเคารพบูชาต่อบรรพบุรุษ กับความรู้สึกถึงความรัก ความอบอุ่น ความห่วงใย ที่มีแรงบันดาลใจมาจากพ่อของตนเอง

จากการสำรวจและศึกษาข้อมูลวิถีในความเชื่อของการบูชา อิทธิพลทางวัฒนธรรมที่สอดคล้องกับคนไทย รูปแบบทางศิลปกรรมไทยในภาพเขียนเครื่องตั้งกระบวนจีนและการสูญเสียบรรพบุรุษบุคคลที่เรารัก การรักษาความรู้สึกถึงความผูกพันที่ได้มาจากความยากลำบากของวิถีชีวิตในอาชีพการงาน ความเป็นอยู่อย่างสามัญ ความสุขที่พึงมีมาจากสิ่งของที่แสนธรรมดา สิ่งของที่หามาจากความตั้งใจ ความเอาใจใส่ด้วยน้ำพักน้ำแรงของตนเองจนสามารถสร้างความสุขเพียงเล็กน้อยได้ การมองเห็นคุณค่าของวัตถุข้าพเจ้าไม่ได้ตีความจากมูลค่า แต่มองเห็นสิ่งของเหล่านั้นที่มีค่าทางความรู้สึก ความทรงจำ ส่งผ่านมาให้เห็นถึงความรัก ความอบอุ่น ความห่วงใยของพ่อ นำมาสร้างสรรค์ผลงานในรูปแบบศิลปะไทยที่แสดงความเคารพรักต่อพ่อผู้ให้กำเนิด ผลงานวิทยานิพนธ์ทุกชิ้นที่สร้างสรรค์ขึ้นมาจึงแสดงการระลึกถึงความรักของพ่อ

โดยนำสิ่งของรอบตัวที่ได้เห็นผ่านประสบการณ์ วัตถุปัจจัย 4 ที่บ่งบอกถึงวิถีชีวิตความเป็นอยู่ โดยใช้ทฤษฎีจินตนิยมกับความเป็นมงคลในรูปทรงและลวดลาย แสดงออกเชิงสัญลักษณ์ตามแบบอย่างศิลปะไทย การใช้ข้าวของเครื่องใช้ธรรมดาที่ไม่มีความวิเศษแต่มีความพิเศษในตัวเอง แสดงความหมายและคุณค่าในชีวิตที่สื่อสารความรู้สึกถึงความทรงจำ ความรัก ความผูกพัน ความอบอุ่นของพ่อ สร้างสัญลักษณ์ทางด้านรูปทรง การจัดทรงพุ่มดอกไม้ นำมาจัดวางบนพื้นที่หนึ่งในลักษณะการสักการบูชา ในความเป็นมนุษย์ที่ต้องการสร้างหลักยึดเหนี่ยวทางจิตใจด้วยสัญลักษณ์ทางวัตถุที่มีความหมายต่อตนเอง สะท้อนคติความเชื่อเกี่ยวกับการสักการบูชาที่แสดงออกถึงความกตัญญูรู้คุณของคนไทยผ่านศิลปะ “เครื่องบูชาสีดำ”
