The beauty of the empty space from the basketry

Abstract

The thesis “The beauty of the space from the basketry”, objective is to study concepts and theories about beauty. To create visual arts inspired by folk basketry into a 3D sculpture by creating a freeform shape, to convey the beauty from variety of perspectives.

The scope of creativity is divided into 4 areas. Consisting of: the study of information for the creation of works, by focusing on the issues of beauty arising from the context of the environment such as light and shadow; for the aspect of materials, study the sources of natural materials used in the creation of works such as rattan and bamboo; In terms of technique, study the technique of weaving the materials into various patterns, starting from the basic pattern to the more complex patterns, which this also includes the size of the artwork, the details on placement of light and shadow; study the techniques for extending the life of natural materials, by studying how to preserve natural materials such as rattan and bamboo to become strong and durable. The process of creating the artwork consists of: 1. Researching information to support the creation of the thesis; 2. Forming the shape of the basketry to determine the style of the work; 3. Selection of materials and equipment for the creation of the thesis; 4. Analyzing the work before the thesis; 5. Creating the thesis.

For the study and creation of this set of art work, the artist combines the analyzed data with his thought process that wanted to show the beauty of basketry in free form. This beauty can both be seen in the concrete form of the unique aesthetics of basketry and in the abstract form such as the light and shadow that reflects through the art piece. This is a result from the artist’s creation as he gives the importance to reflecting all aspects and perspectives of the beauty of nature.

วิทยานิพนธ์ชุด “ความงามของพื้นที่ว่างจากรูปจักสาน” วัตถุประสงค์เพื่อต้องการศึกษาแนวคิด ทฤษฎี เกี่ยวกับความงาม และสร้างสรรค์งานทัศนศิลป์ที่มีแรงบันดาลใจมาจากงานจักสานพื้นบ้าน สู่ผลงานประติมากรรม 3 มิติ โดยสร้างสรรค์เป็นรูปทรงอิสระเพื่อสื่อถึงความงามที่หลากหลายมุมมอง

ขอบเขตของการสร้างสรรค์ แบ่งออกเป็น 4 ด้าน ได้แก่ ด้านการศึกษาข้อมูลเพื่อการสร้างสรรค์ผลงาน มุ่งเน้นให้มีประเด็นเกี่ยวกับความสวยงามที่เกิดขึ้นขึ้นจากบริบทแวดล้อมอย่างแสง และเงา ด้านวัสดุ ศึกษาแหล่งที่มาของวัสดุธรรมชาติที่ใช้สร้างสรรค์ผลงาน ได้แก่ หวาย และไม้ไผ่ ด้านเทคนิค ศึกษาเทคนิคการนำวัสดุมาจักสานเป็นลวดลายต่าง ๆ โดยเริ่มต้นศึกษาจากลายพื้นฐานไปจนถึงลวดลายที่มีความซับซ้อน อีกทั้งยังรวมไปถึงขนาดของชิ้นงานการจัดวางรายละเอียดของแสง และเงา ด้านเทคนิคการยืดอายุของวัสดุธรรมชาติ ศึกษาการรักษา ถนอมวัสดุธรรมชาติอย่าง หวาย และไม้ไผ่ให้แข็งแรง คงทน โดยมีขั้นตอนการสร้างสรรค์ผลงาน ดังนี้ 1.การค้นคว้าข้อมูลในการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานวิทยานิพนธ์ 2. การขึ้นรูปร่างของงานจักสานเพื่อกำหนดรูปแบบของผลงาน 3. การเลือกวัสดุอุปกรณ์ที่ใช้ในการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานวิทยานิพนธ์ 4. การวิเคราะห์ผลงานก่อนวิทยานิพนธ์ 5. การสร้างสรรค์ผลงานวิทยานิพนธ์

การศึกษา และสร้างสรรค์ผลงานชุดนี้ ผู้สร้างสรรค์นำข้อมูลมาวิเคราะห์ผนวกกับกระบวนการคิดของข้าพเจ้าที่ต้องการแสดงให้เห็นถึงความงดงามของการจักสานในรูปทรงอิสระ ด้วยความงดงามนี้ปรากฏทั้งในแบบรูปธรรมอย่างลวดลายจักสานบนผลงานหรือรูปทรงที่ดูแปลกตา และความงดงามในรูปแบบนามธรรมอย่างแสงและเงาที่สะท้อนผ่านตัวชิ้นงาน ทั้งหมดนี้เป็นความตั้งใจของข้าพเจ้าในการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานที่สำคัญเพื่อต้องการสะท้อนให้เห็นความงดงามในทุกมิติของธรรมชาติ
