Enumeration of Tridiagonal Matrices with Prescribed Determinant over Zp2

Abstract

In this thesis, the determinants of tridiagonal matrices are studied. The main focus is the enumeration of tridiagonal matrices with prescribed determinant over the rings Zp and Zp2. The number of tridiagonal matrices with prescribed determinant over Zp and the number of non-singular tridiagonal matrices with prescribed determinant over Zp2 are completely determined. For singular tridiagonal matrices with prescribed determinant over Zp2, bounds on the number of tridiagonal matrices with prescribed determinant are given. Finally, the number of some special tridiagonal matrices with prescribed determinant over the rings Zp and Zp2 is presented.

ในวิทยานิพนธ์นี้ได้ศึกษาดีเทอร์มิแนนต์ของเมทริกซ์สามแนวเฉียงโดยเน้นการแจงนับเมทริกซ์สามแนวเฉียงซึ่งกำหนดค่าดีเทอร์มิแนนต์บนริง Zp และริง Zp2 แสดงการนับจำนวนเมทริกซ์สามแนวเฉียงซึ่งกำหนดค่าดีเทอร์มิแนนต์บน Zp และเมทริกซ์สามแนวเฉียงไม่เอกฐานซึ่งกำหนดค่าดีเทอร์มิแนนต์บน Zp2 ไว้อย่างครบถ้วนทุกกรณี นอกจากนี้ได้นำเสนอค่าขอบเขตของจำนวนเมทริกซ์สามแนวเฉียงเอกฐานซึ่งกำหนดค่าดีเทอร์มิแนนต์บน Zp2 ในส่วนสุดท้ายเป็นการนำเสนอการแจงนับเมทริกซ์สามแนวเฉียงรูปแบบพิเศษบางแบบบน Zp และ Zp2 ซึ่งกำหนดค่าดีเทอร์มิแนนต์
