Abstract: | This study aims to explore community participation sports tourism model for enhancing the community income in Henan Province. The objectives of this study are: (1) to investigate the current development status of sports tourism in Henan Province; (2) to develop a community participation sports tourism model to enhance community income in Henan Province; and (3) to evaluate the feasibility of this participatory sports tourism model in boosting community income in the region. Employing a Research and Development (R&D) methodology, the study integrates quantitative and qualitative techniques, including a comprehensive literature review, interviews, and expert panel discussions, to develop a tourism model specifically designed for Chenjiagou.
The study includes data from 383 residents and tourists in Chenjiagou, revealing that the sports tourism sector effectively attracts an educated, middle-income demographic, with particular strength in the health and education sectors. Although Tai Chi activities have contributed to community income growth, there are ongoing challenges related to uneven benefit distribution, insufficient financial support, and talent development gaps. The analysis led to the creation of the PBSPEC model, which consists of six key dimensions: Policy, Benefit Distribution, Service Quality, Participation Capacity, Economic Impact, and Community Belief, providing a theoretical foundation for the sustainable tourism development of Chenjiagou. Through connoisseurship and interviews, a comprehensive assessment of the PBSPEC model's effectiveness was conducted. Findings revealed that both experts and residents highly recognized the model, universally affirming its substantial potential to enhance community income. - |
