Abstract: | This study explores the vertical dimension layout method of residential interiors and their preferred visual environment to enhance the comfort of using residential spaces for the older people in Jinan City. The primary objectives of the research include: 1) The layout method of the vertical dimension; 2) The color configuration preferences; 3) Emotional matching model construction of the interior surface form.
The research employed a mixed-method approach, integrating both qualitative and quantitative studies. The study collects and analyzes data on joint mobility and visual environment preferences of older adults through tools such as measurements, interviews and questionnaires, respectively. The collected information and data were applied to create a layout methodology for the vertical dimension of the aging-friendly space as well as the visual environment design.
The findings indicate that it is essential to integrate the joint mobility factor into the vertical dimensional layout design process. In terms of the visual environment, First, it is recommended to use a high-brightness environment. Ensure the high brightness value of the top surface side surface and leading furniture. Second, most older people tend to warm visual environments. Use a similar or adjacent hue of the primary color for the partial side surface. Finally, after obtaining the clear emotional tendency of older people, use the mapping model to find the matching surface form samples. Ultimately, this study will provide a theoretical basis and suggestions for the interior space design of aging-friendly residences in Jinan. - |
