Abstract: In today's modern cities, the modernization of cities has led to fierce competition among them; while the infrastructure is constantly being enhanced and the overall experience is being improved to serve residents and attract more visitors. In modern society with complicated information and various social media messages spreading, cultural experiences are more multidimensional, diversified, and systematic to deepen people's sense of identity and impression. This paper takes Chongqing's tangible and intangible culture as the research object, and adopts qualitative research methods to extract and summarize the characteristics of Chongqing's urban culture through interviews, field surveys, and network observations; meanwhile, it analyzes the visual materials of relevant cultural representatives to obtain the visual characteristics of icon design. These icon series are used as visual materials in the city tourism souvenirs, and the simplicity and rapid dissemination of icon design are used to help refine and spread the image of Chongqing city culture features. The dissemination and perception of symbols are used to trigger people's memory and perception of the city impression, to attract people who are interested in Chongqing's characteristic culture but have not yet experienced it on the ground to visit and to deepen and strengthen their memory and impression of those who have already visited. Urban culture communicators provide designers with visual materials and design examples in a shared way, which can also be applied to relevant Chongqing-themed tourism souvenirs. Enrich the sense of the experience of urban culture. Deepen and more systematically perceive the understanding of Chongqing's characteristics. Through the study and sorting out of Chongqing's characteristic culture, the symbols are disseminated by visual refinement, providing openness to help disseminate the city's characteristic culture and enhance the city's image through tourism souvenirs as a carrier. To provide a reference way for the city's cultural symbolic communication, and tourism souvenirs to explore the way of interaction.
