DESIGNING SPIRIT HOUSES IN THE CONTEXT OF DIGITAL LIFESTYLES

Abstract

This thesis simulates the design of spirit houses adapted to digital lifestyles. I present a design for spirit houses through an AR, offering a modernized concept to align with the shift from the analog era to the digital age. Living spaces have changed significantly from previous generations; people now often live in vertical or horizontal spaces with limited areas due to work and commuting needs. This shift has transformed preferences for living spaces among the modern generation. In this rapidly growing society, there remains a deeply rooted belief in the supernatural, which has not faded. Both past and present, Thai people value spirit houses based on the long-standing belief that such shrines bring peace, safety, and harmony to a place.

Through the application, homeowners can easily preview a spirit house by pointing their device at the desired area, allowing an augmented reality view of the spirit house within the actual space. I hope this application will simplify and enhance decision-making for purchasing spirit houses. This app-based spirit house design provides vendors and manufacturers with a valuable platform to engage with the modern generation.

วิทยานิพนธ์นี้ เป็นการจำลองการออกแบบศาลพระภูมิให้เข้ากับวิถีชีวิตดิจิทัล โดยข้าพเจ้าได้นำเสนอการออกแบบศาลพระภูมิในรูปแบบระบบ AR โดยการนำเสนอศาลพระภูมิในรูปแบบใหม่นั้นมีการปรับให้เข้ากันกับวิถีชีวิตที่มีการเปลี่ยนแปลงจากยุคอนาล็อคสู่ยุคดิจิทัล ในการเปลี่ยนแปลงด้านที่อยู่อาศัยนั้นแตกต่างจากยุคก่อน โดยคนยุคใหม่มีพื้นที่อาศัยที่เป็นแนวดิ่งหรือแนวราบที่มีพื้นที่ที่จำกัด ตามเงื่อนไขในการใช้ชีวิตที่มีจำกัดในเรื่องสถานที่ทำงานและการเดินทางที่สะดวก ทำให้ความนิยมในพื้นที่อยู่อาศัยของคนยุคใหม่เปลี่ยนแปลงไปจากเดิม ในสภาวะสังคมที่เติบโตอย่างรวดเร็วนั้น ยังคงมีความเชื่อที่ยังไม่ได้หายไปจากสังคม คือ ความเชื่อด้านไสยศาสตร์ คนไทยทั้งในสมัยก่อนและในปัจจุบัน ให้ความสำคัญกับการสร้างศาลพระภูมิ เพราะมีความเชื่อสืบทอดต่อกันมาอย่างยาวนาน ว่ากันว่าสถานที่ใดก็ตามที่มีศาลพระภูมิจะช่วยให้สถานที่นั้น ๆ อยู่อย่างร่มเย็นเป็นสุข ปลอดภัย ใช้ชีวิตได้อย่างราบรื่น

โดยเจ้าของบ้านสามารถทดลองเลือกศาลพระภูมิได้ง่าย ๆ เพียงแค่ส่องแอปพพลิเคชั่นไปที่พื้นที่ที่ต้องการตั้งศาลพระภูมิแล้ว จะเห็นภาพเสมือนจริงของผนังห้องผ่านแอพทันที ข้าพเจ้าหวังเป็นอย่างยิ่งว่าแอพพลิเคชันนี้จะช่วยทำให้การตัดสินใจซื้อศาลพระภูมิเป็นไปได้ง่ายและสะดวกขึ้น การออกแบบศาลพระภูมิในรูปแบบแอพลลิเคชันนี้จะช่วยส่งเสริมให้ผู้ค้าหรือผู้ผลิตศาลพระภูมิมีช่องทางในการเข้าถึงกลุ่มคนยุคใหม่ได้มากยิ่งขึ้น
