การศึกษาผลงานของยะโยะอิ คุสะมะ (Yayoi Kusama) ที่แสดงออกถึงสภาวะความผิดปกติทางจิตในช่วงปี ค.ศ.1948-2000

Abstract

การศึกษาครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อวิเคราะห์เปรียบเทียบผลงานของยะโยะอิ คุสะมะที่แสดงให้เห็นการสร้างสรรค์ศิลปะที่เชื่อมโยงกับลักษณะอาการเจ็บป่วยทางจิต โดยศึกษาเฉพาะผลงานในช่วงปี ค.ศ.1948-2000 จากการศึกษาพบว่าจุดประสงค์หลักในการสร้างสรรค์ศิลปะก็เพื่อบำบัดตนเองจากสภาวะความผิดปกติทางจิตและเป็นแรงผลักดันสำคัญในการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานด้วยวิธีการจุดซ้ำๆ เทคนิคดังกล่าวเชื่อมโยงกับศาสตร์ทางจิตวิเคราะห์แสดงให้เห็นกระบวนการทางจิตและพฤติกรรมของศิลปิน ในรูปแบบอาการย้ำคิด (Obsessions) มักจะสัมพันธ์กับอาการย้ำทำ (Compulsions) ด้วยวิธีการจุดซ้ำๆ เพื่อช่วยลดความคับข้องใจ ดังเช่นปรากฏชัดเจนในผลงาน “Infinity Nets” รูปแบบเนื้อหาและสัญลักษณ์สะท้อนให้เห็นปมปัญหาภายในจิตใจ มุมมองที่แปลกแหวกแนว ทำให้เกิดการสร้างสรรค์ศิลปะในแนวทางใหม่ๆ ซึ่งเป็นประโยชน์ต่อวงการศิลปะ อีกทั้งก่อให้เกิดประโยชน์กับแนวทางศิลปกรรมบำบัด พัฒนาศักยภาพของบุคคล เสริมสร้างความเข้าใจของสภาวะความผิดปกติทางจิตใจว่าไม่ใช่เรื่องน่ากลัวหรือน่าอับอายแต่อย่างใด

The purpose of this study is to to analyze and compare the works of Yayoi Kusama which share the creation of art relating to mental illness, especially her works during 1948-2000. The results demonstrate that the main artists’s objective in their creation is self-healing from mental illness. The influence of mental illness has significantly driven to originate unique art works in the forms of “dots” and net pattern. The dots technique also shows the obvious mental illness called “Obsession”. It usually relates to compulsions which is the behavior disorder, not the thought. Behavior caused by obsession then reflects in doing compulsions to increase anxiety. In this case, Kusama communicates through her own works. One of the most obvious art piece is the “Infinity Nets” This study provides benefits to the art world and art therapy. It also reinforces our attitudes to accept that those who have mental illness is not scary or shameful at all.
